September is here and I just want to say to it, “We don’t want nooo problems, we come in peace, I promise!”
I’m honestly still reeling from the loss of Chadwick Boseman, a real life superhero and a forever representation of a strong Black, male lead both on-screen and in real life. Rest In Power King.
As we approach Fall, I can’t help but think, we literally just got into Summer! But out of all the seasons, Fall is probably my favorite season of all. The fashion, Mother Nature showing off all her colors, and most importantly, for what it represents metaphorically. Transformation.
Nature sheds old leaves and lets go of what no longer serves it every year like clockwork, and without hesitation because it knows that it is making room for the new and improved leaves they’’ll receive in the Spring, which represents “rebirth”.
This natural process made me look at my life and wonder,” what people, places, and/or things are no longer serving my highest good?” And if I’m still holding onto old, outdated energy, will it block my new blessings?”
The idea of transformation is scary, but as we can see with the current state of the world, transformation is a necessary part of growth. It exposes ugly truths, and it forces one to look at what’s not working and figure out a new approach. And when you look at it from a place of grace, it’s truly a great place to be.
Individually and globally, we’re at the beginning of a much needed transformation of systemic racism in America. This old way of thinking has resulted in poorer healthcare, education, and overall quality of life for Black women(and men) because of deep-rooted prejudice. I never thought I would see it in my lifetime, but I am glad that it is finally happening so we can begin to heal as a people.
I have no clue what the next five months will bring, it’s daunting to even think about considering what has already transpired, but I want to encourage you to think of how we can be more like the trees in nature; standing our ground weathering every storm and then ritually shedding what no longer serves our highest good, whether it’s a mindset, a person, place or thing, in order to make way for the rebirth of the best versions of ourselves.
