The hubby and I LOVE to cook together. It’s become one of favorite family time activities, including the little one who is now interested in being our little helper. And one of our favorite dinners to make is fried chicken! However, fried chicken is STILL fried and STILL frowned upon in regards to health.

So we had something of a “VERZUS” of own, kitchen edition. The hubby took the traditional pan-fried approached while I prepared mine in our beloved NINJA Foodie Air Fryer Tender 8-1 (OP301 6 1/2 QT).

So if you’re interested in seeing how air fired chicken stands up against the traditional method, keep reading…

Ingredient List

*We used the same ingredients for both

  • 1 lb Chicken Thighs (skin-on)
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 Cup Flour
  • 1/2 Tbsp salt
  • 1/2 Tbsp Old Bay seasoning
  •  1 Tsp pepper
  • Preheat the air fryer to 390° for 5 minutes.
  • Wash and clean the chicken. Pat dry with a paper towel. Dredge the chicken in the flour and then the egg, and then the flour again. Shake off excess flour.
  • Place the chicken into the air fryer and cook at 390° for 25 minutes.

Prep Work (both)

Mix together dry ingredients

*SIDENOTE: YUP! You can batter the chicken for the air fryer! That was probably the best part. I had no idea that you could batter chicken, or anything for that matter and put it in the air fryer, but look at God!

Create a dreg with the two eggs and batter chicken

Set at 390 Degrees for 25mins and go relax.

Two Different Cooking Methods

Heated oil to 350, cooked for 10mins (wings)

You can’t even tell the difference between the two! But they’re different nonetheless! Check out the comparison chart to see who the CLEAR winner is!

The numbers don’t lie! Air fried chicken is the clear winner, but we knew that already, but we needed to know the stats for ourselves 🙂

Conclusion

All in all, they both came out crispy, the air fried chicken came out juicier and was less labor-intensive. The crunch was the same, thanks to the batter method and clean up was ALOT easier and the best part? No oil whatsoever.

WINNER WINNER, AIR FRIED CHICKEN DINNER!

Happy Aire-Fried Chicken Day!
